Me on Waiting on Wednesday (165)

Waiting on Wednesday is a bunch of weekly fun hosted by Jill at Breaking the Spine. :)

Title: Salvage
Author: Alexandra Duncan
Release Date: April 1, 2014
Publisher: Greenwillow Books (HarperCollins imprint)

From Goodreads:

Ava, a teenage girl living aboard the male-dominated deep space merchant ship Parastrata, faces betrayal, banishment, and death. Taking her fate into her own hands, she flees to the Gyre, a floating continent of garbage and scrap in the Pacific Ocean, in this thrilling, surprising, and thought-provoking debut novel that will appeal to fans of Across the Universe, by Beth Revis, and The Handmaid's Tale, by Margaret Atwood.

I just read Tin Star by Cecil Castellucci and this sounds sort of similar, so I'm interested. I'm also intrigued by the Across the Universe comparison, but not The Handmaid's Tale comparison. That book creeps me out so much. But I like the sound of this. And I hear it's a standalone. :)

  1. Awesome pick. Can't wait to read this one :)
    Happy Wednesday!

  3. I won this one on Tea Time :) Great pick!

This is our WOW of this week.

  4. A standalone is YA? Wow. ;) I can't read it until March :( I haven't read Tin Star or the Across the Universe series, so I guess this one will be a complete surprise for me. Great pick! :)

  5. Sounds awesome. I loved Across the Universe so if this is being compared to it I'm sure I will love it. Great pick, here's mine

  6. I'm totally the opposite of you! I really want to read this because of The Handmaid's Tale comparison (one of my favourite books) rather than Across the Universe (which I didn't care for as much)
